What is the latest news with Keane Lewis-Potter’s situation at Hull City amid West Ham/Brentford interest?
Keane Lewis-Potter has emerged as one of the EFL’s hottest prospects in recent seasons, with the 20-year-old enjoying an excellent 2020/21 campaign during Hull City’s promotion season.
Scoring 13 times and assisting a further six, the 20-year-old proved to be a key source in scoring and creating goals, predominantly operating on the left flank.
Following up his impressive season with two goals and two assists in the division above, he will be hoping to be as influential for The Tigers as he adapts to the rigours of Championship football.
Interest in the young Englishman emerged last month, with reports suggesting that Leicester City and Southampton were interested parties.
TEAMtalk have since reported that West Ham have joined the race for the exciting winger, whilst yesterday, The Athletic stated that Brentford are also monitoring his situation.
Hull Live confirmed at the start of the month that an £8 million bid for an unnamed player from an unnamed club had been put in, with The Athletic later suggesting that The Tigers are hoping for a bid around the £12 million mark.
Hull have struggled early on in this Championship season, however, Lewis-Potter is an exceptional talent who can go a long way in his career.
At 20 years old, he has a lot of desirable attributes as a wideman, and given his experience of league football, he might find it easier to adapt to England’s top tier, compared to some of the academy graduates who have not seen too much EFL action.
It will be no surprise to see somewhat of a bidding war come to fruition with the number of top-tier clubs who are interested in the young winger, seemingly continuing to increase.
‘He deserves that opportunity’ – Jed Wallace’s future at Millwall amid contract situation and previous West Ham interest
Jed Wallace has been an influential player for Millwall since his arrival from Wolves four years ago.
The Lions have been unable to escape the clutches of the Championship in those four years, but the midfielder’s performance levels haven’t dropped.
In 2019/20, Wallace scored 10 goals and registered 12 assists in a season where they finished eighth in the table.
Last season, the winger scored 10 goals once again, chipping in with seven assists as they finished 11th.
Wallace has started the current campaign in fine form, too. The 27-year-old, in 10 Championship matches, has scored four goals and registered four assists.
During those four years, though, Millwall have been unable to extend Wallace’s future, with the winger’s deal set to run out at the end of the season.
This subsequently means that Wallace can talk to other clubs in January, or potentially leave on a free transfer at the end of the campaign.
Wallace is keen to let his football do the talking, and let the relevant people sort out his future off the pitch. His dream is to get Millwall to the Premier League, but could he get there with or without the London club?
That’s what we discussed on yesterday’s FLW TV Debate show, where we identified six players who we can see leaving the EFL for the Premier League in January.
Our man Marcus Ally said: “If Millwall do fall away and aren’t really involved in any distant play-off push, if they are in a secure position, they might think ‘should we take the transfer fee now?’
“It feels like if Millwall don’t get promoted, which, of course, is a longshot, then Jed Wallace leaves at the end of his contract to go to a Premier League side.
“There was reported interest from West Ham towards the back end of the window – that could be a decent fit, they need some more players as they are in the Europa League.
“He should be able to handle the adaptation and expectation a little bit more. He’s had loads of expectation on his shoulders in carrying Millwall’s attacking contingent, so why can’t he carry that burden in the Premier League?
“He deserves that opportunity. You don’t let your best player’s contract run down this thin unless he does have a desire to leave the club.”

United to drop Lingard asking fee big time
MANCHESTER UNITED are willing to sell Jesse Lingard for a knockdown £10m fee in January, with the midfielder rejecting the club’s latest offer of £150,000-per-week personal terms.
Sources close to the situation have told Claret and Hugh the Red Devils have failed recently in a second attempt to convince Lingard to sign a new five-year agreement despite the offer of an extra £50k a week.
The Irons were being quoted £30m and £20m by United back in the summer but bosses at Old Trafford have “woken up” to the very real possibility Lingard is prepared to keep them sweating on running down the final six months of his contract.
He will be aware that the less he leaves for can be reflected in his personal terms by interested clubs – one of which is likely to be ourselves.
We understand United will make one final offer to the England international before trying to attract a bidder when the January window opens up, with Old Trafford execs believing a £10m valuation might be enough to conjure up interest and a club Lingard may yet consider.
United put the block on Lingard joining Irons last summer following his impressive six-month loan at the London Stadium last season.
A source told us: “Jesse has not budged, he is enjoying being back at United but the club want his contract sorted, purely in terms of now protecting the asset.
“Lingard is still holding all the cards but United would now rather get £10m in January than zero in July. It’s hoped an agreement can be found but United believe a number of clubs would be takers at the major discounted price.”
